Karin passionately shares Yoga as a lifestyle that values health, personal development, community, partnership, sustainable living practices and environmental stewardship. She sees herself as a catalyst for change, educating, inspiring and empowering people to live healthy, happy lives, filled with purpose, passion and joy.

Karin has been teaching yoga full time since 2004 and has owned and managed Yoga studios and fitness centers in both South Africa and on Maui.

Karin moved to Maui in 2007 where she offers public classes, Yoga Teacher Trainings and continuing education classes from her studio, Maha Yoga, in Paia, on Maui’s famous North Shore.

With additional certifications in Personal Training and Corrective Exercise, her teaching methodology draws strongly from her training in functional anatomy and human movement as well as her deep appreciation for the wisdom teachings of yoga to support the sacred journey of personal awakening and transformation.

Teaching, rather than merely instructing, she offers precise verbal instruction, gentle adjustments and instruction on the use of props, to guide students to master variations and suitable progressions so that they can take ownership of their personal practice and progress safely at their own pace.

She finds inspiration through her yoga practice, student’s stories, nature, art, music and travelling and shares her passionate understanding of all aspects of the practice, physical, energetic and spiritual, with grace and humor. She believes in creating a class environment that supports a balance between serious studentship as well as lots of hugs and laughter.
